Larentowicz suspended for Saturday's match at Salt Lake

Commerce City, Colo. - Midfielder Jeff Larentowicz was shown his fifth yellow card of the season in the Rapids' loss at Toronto on Wednesday, which means he will have to serve an automatic one-game suspension and miss Saturday's match against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium (7 pm MT, Altitude).

The midfielder had accumulated four cautions through his first 10 games. However, per Major League Soccer's 'Good Behavior Incentive,' he had one caution removed after playing three consecutive games without being disciplined. Larentowicz then received a yellow card versus Portland on June 30 and his fifth against Toronto. Players may only benefit from the Good Behavior Incentive one time per season.

The Rapids head to Salt Lake down a game in the Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup series against their Western rivals, with RSL claiming a 2-0 win in Utah on April 7. The teams close out the season series in Colorado on August 4 (7 pm MT, TICKETS) at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Larentowicz missed his first match as a member of the Colorado Rapids on March 25 when he served a one-game suspension in a 4-1 loss at New York after receiving a red card again Philadelphia the previous week. He has two goals and played 90 minutes in 18 of the 19 matches he has appeared in this season.

After a player serves a one-game suspension for accumulating five yellow cards, that player will receive another one game suspension after accruing three more cautions.
