Rivero hoping to send fans off happy in final match

Commerce City, Colo. - Martin Rivero has developed a soft spot for Rapids fans. He shares in their disappointment of the season coming to an end on Saturday. So it's not just for himself or his teammates that he so badly wants to win the final match.

"We trained hard this week to be prepared for the game and be ready end the season in the best way possible," Rivero told ColoradoRapids.com. "We want to win to give a final bit of joy to our fans who have supported us all season."

Rivero enters the final match leading the team with eight assists. He scored his second goal of the season last Saturday in the Rapids' 2-0 win over Chivas USA in California. His first goal was way back on May 6 at Dallas, the only other time the team won on the road all season.

The Rapids are 6-3-1 when Rivero either scores or provides an assist.

"I hope I can score again on Saturday," he quipped. "Maybe it's that my goals help us win. I hope I can score again, but the most important thing is for our team to win."
