Rapids match against Real Salt Lake on August 3 moved to 6:30 p.m MT kickoff

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, July 1, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids match on August 3 against Real Salt Lake, the third and deciding match in the Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup, will start at 6:30 p.m. MT and be part of NBC Sports Network’s MLS Breakaway. The special, 90-minute “whip-around” show will feature multiple live look-ins to four MLS matches being played on August 3, including the rivalry battle at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (Buy Tickets here).

The Rapids vs. RSL match was originally slated to kick off at 7:00 p.m. MT, and has been moved 30 minutes earlier to 6:30 p.m. MT. It will remain broadcast live in its entirety on Altitude, with Richard Fleming and Marcelo Balboa on the call.

MLS Breakaway is a great platform for Major League Soccer, and we’re happy that the Rapids will be an important part of it on August 3,” said Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “We’ll be giving everything we have to bring the Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup back to Colorado, and soccer fans around the country will get a chance to see it live on NBC Sports.”

Colorado will need a win or a tie in the final Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup match in order to win back the trophy from RSL, as the Cup goes to the winner of the season series between the clubs, with the holder retaining the Cup in the event of a draw. The Rapids earned a 1-1 draw in Salt Lake on March 16 and a 1-0 victory at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on April 6 in the other 2013 meetings between the clubs. Colorado won the Cup in 2005 and 2006, but RSL has held it since.

The second edition of MLS Breakaway will air on NBC Sports Network starting at 7:00 p.m. MT, with soccer coverage on the station starting at 4:30 p.m. MT with the New York Red Bulls at Sporting Kansas City match. After that game ends, MLS Breakaway will look in at four other matches, and will run until the conclusion of the Rapids vs. RSL match.
