Cheers to the Rapids 2014

Brad Corrigan to perform at 'Cheers to the Rapids'

The Rapids’ season kickoff event, 'Cheers to the Rapids', will take place this evening at the Paramount Theatre in Denver, and recently added to the night’s entertainment is Brad Corrigan (of Dispatch), who will play a solo acoustic set. Tickets are just $25, with all proceeds donated to Kroenke Sports Charities, and are available here.

Among the other attractions is a World Cup roundtable, which will feature a Q&A session about past World Cups and this summer’s main event in Brazil, with U.S. Soccer CEO and Secretary General Dan Flynn, Rapids Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni and club legend Marcelo Balboa, hosted by Rapids play-by-play announcer, Richard Fleming.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Brad Corrigan to our event, and know that our fans will love having the chance to hear him play,” said Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “In addition to having our fans see the whole team in the new uniforms, we also have the World Cup roundtable, Brad’s set, great food and other entertainment. With all proceeds going to a worthy cause, we look forward to the night as a perfect preview for our March 22 Home Opener.”

Corrigan and Dispatch have long been popular throughout the United States and the world, and the Denver native has performed for Rapids fans previously. He sang the national anthem before the April 21, 2013 match against the LA Galaxy, and did the anthem again a month later at a USA vs. Brazil international friendly. He will also sing the national anthem at this Saturday’s Home Opener against Portland Timbers FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

His charity, Love Light and Melody, battles the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of extreme poverty and uses music and the arts to rebuild, restore, and bring healing to communities affected by poverty. It is a charity that the Rapids continue to work with and make contributions to, and Mastroeni has previously volunteered with the organization on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

The $25 entry cost will grant fans admission to the event, a drink ticket, parking near the Paramount and a Rapids gift. Tickets are available at All proceeds go toward Kroenke Sports Charities, which benefits children and families throughout Colorado.
