Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Joe Nasco has been loaned to Atlanta Silverbacks FC of the second-tier North American Soccer League, rejoining his first professional club. The loan agreement covers the duration of the NASL and MLS seasons, but the Rapids have the option to recall Nasco to Colorado at any time.
“This is a great opportunity for Joe to get some playing time in an environment that he knows well,” said Paul Bravo, the Rapids Vice President of Soccer Operations. “It’s a good level and a chance for him to stay sharp and see some game action. With the flexibility of being able to bring him back at any time, it’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
Nasco, 30, signed with the Rapids on February 12, following a year in which he was named to the NASL Best XI with the Silverbacks, helping lead the team to a league title. A former All-American at Andrew Junior College and an all-conference player at Birmingham-Southern, Nasco has not made a first team appearance for the Rapids, but has appeared in three Reserves matches.
