Colorado Rapids’ Development Academy closed-out their Generation adidas Cup Champions Division on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat by Sporting Kansas City, in Frisco, Texas.
For the club’s U16s this was a fifth game in eight days, playing against some of the best young talent from around the world.
Sixteen teams competed in the Champions Division of the GA Cup, with River Plate beating Flamengo 2-1 to lift the trophy.
Earlier in the competition, the Rapids had tackled River Plate as one of their three group games, and come off second best. The DA also met Malaga CF (Spain), plus academy teams from Atlanta United FC, Toronto FC and Sporting KC.
Other teams involved included Real Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt and Estudiantes.
