Roster Notes: FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids | Saturday, August 12

Starting Lineup:

GK Tim Howard will make his 15th start of 2017, having previously missed seven games due to injury (one), suspension (three), and international duty (three). Since joining the league in 1998, Howard has appeared in 116 contests for the MetroStars (85) and Rapids (31).

DEF Eric Miller did not go the distance for the third time this season, after being replaced by Gordon in the 78th-minute. Miller will be making his 75th MLS appearance, and 45th with the Rapids. Miller is one yellow card shy of receiving a one-game suspension for accumulation.

DEF Axel Sjöberg scored his first goal of 2017, and first-ever at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park during the 2-2 draw against Vancouver. Sjöberg made his third consecutive start after missing the previous three due to injury. Sjöberg will be making his ninth appearance and start of the season.

DEF Jared Watts is 95 minutes from reaching the 5,000-mark since joining MLS as the team’s 33rd overall selection of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. Watts will be making his 15th appearance and 12th start of 2017.

DEF Mike da Fonte is 100 minutes shy of reaching 1,000 for the season. He played the full 90 minutes at left back in the 2-2 draw against Vancouver. Like Miller, da Fonte is also one yellow from receiving a one-game ban due to card accumulation.

MID Marlon Hairston registered his fourth assist of the season during the 2-2 draw against Vancouver. He will tie his career-high in appearances (22) set during his first year in MLS in 2014. One of Hairston’s three goals of 2016 came during the 1-1 home tie against FC Dallas on July 23.

MID Micheal Azira played all but four minutes of the 2-2 draw against Vancouver. Azira registered his first shot in seven games and received his team-high sixth yellow card of the season. The 29-year-old still leads the team in starts (19) and minutes played (1,725).

MID Mohammed Saeid also earned his fourth assist of 2017, setting up Doyle’s fifth of the year. For the fifth consecutive game, Saeid played the 90 minutes at center midfield alongside Azira and Boateng. This will be Saeid’s 70th MLS appearance, and 19th with the Rapids.

MID Shkëlzen Gashi lasted 71 minutes in his first start since June 3 against Columbus. Gashi did not register a single shot for the second time this season in games in which he has started. This will mark Gashi’s ninth start and 11th appearance of the season.

FWD Kevin Doyle tallied his fifth tally of the year, and is now one shy from tying his MLS best. Doyle leads all forwards in games started, shots, and shots on goal. Doyle will be making his 12th straight start, and 19th overall.

FWD Dominique Badji will make his career-high 18th start of the season. The former fourth round pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft is five shots away from hitting the 100 mark. Badji has found the back of the net in three of his four appearances at Dallas, including his first professional goal April 10, 2015.

On the bench:

GK John Berner will serve as backup for the fourth consecutive game, and second behind Howard. Berner hasn’t made an appearance since his rookie campaign in 2014, in which he appeared in five games (1-1-3).

DEF Kortne Ford has made one appearance in the last five contests. He has one goal in nine appearances, all starts, during his rookie campaign. He signed a Homegrown contract on January 6, 2017, alongside Ricardo Perez.

DEF Mekeil Williams returns to the 18 after missing the last three games. This season, the Trinidad & Tobago international has featured in ten games (nine starts) for the Rapids.

MID Nana Boateng came on for Azira in the 86th-minute of the 2-2 against Vancouver. The Ghana international has now appeared in five of the last six regular season matches. In total, Boateng has played in eight games (four starts) in 2017.

MID Dillon Serna did not see the pitch for the first time since the 2-1 home win against Columbus. This season, Serna has one goal and one assist in 13 games, with six of those coming from the start.

MID Luis Gil will be available for selection for the first time in burgundy. Gil appeared in 17 games (six starts) for Orlando City SC prior to the mid-week trade for Dillon Powers.

FWD Alan Gordon came off the bench for the fourth game in a row, and eighth of the last nine. He replaced Eric Miller in the 78th minute and registered two shots in the final 12 minutes of the 2-2 draw against Vancouver.
