GK Tim Howard will be making his 24th regular season appearance of 2017 after missing the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas due to international duty. In his first full season with the Rapids, Howard has registered 74 saves and four clean sheets. The 2017 MLS All-Star starting goalkeeper is two starts away from reaching 125 in his MLS career.
DEF Marlon Hairston went the full distance during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas, taking his season tally to 2,432 minutes, best for second on the team (Azira - 2,569). Hairston is just 38 minutes shy of reaching the 5,000-mark in his MLS career. The 23-year-old will be making his 33rd appearance and 28th start of the year.
DEF Kortne Ford’s first professional start at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park came during the 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake on April 15. Ford has now gone the distance in the last seven consecutive matches, and eight of the last nine. In his first season in MLS, Ford has made 18 appearances, with all but one coming from the start.
DEF Axel Sjöberg played all 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. Along the backline, Sjöberg ranks first in shots (11) and passing accuracy (82.6%). The former Rapids’ 2015 first round pick has started every single game (62) he’s appeared in for the club, going the distance in all but three.
DEF Eric Miller made his 75th start in MLS during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. Miller is currently 64 minutes from reaching 2,500 minutes in a season for the first time in his career. This year, Miller has made 28 appearances and starts, including both previous meetings against Real Salt Lake.
MID Nana Boateng will be making consecutive starts for the third time this year and first since the club’s two home matches in July. Boateng’s only assist of the season came in the 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake on April 15. The Ghanaian midfielder had to be replaced in the 32nd minute due to a back injury that kept him sidelined the following 10 games.
MID Mohammed Saeid made his 80th appearance and 70th start in MLS during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. Saeid’s first game for the Rapids came during the 2-1 loss against Real Sale Lake, replacing Boateng in the first half. This year, Saeid has played in 27 games (25 starts) for the Rapids after appearing in the first three games of the season for Minnesota United FC.
MID Joshua Gatt registered his third assist of the season during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. After arriving via trade from Minnesota United FC on March 31, Gatt has appeared in 18 games (10 starts) for the Rapids. His first and only goal thus far in MLS came in the 4-1 loss at Real Sale Lake on August 26.
MID Stefan Aigner scored his second goal of the season during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. After coming off the bench in his first four games for the club, Aigner has now started the last three. The German attacker traveled with the team to Salt Lake in August but did not make the gameday roster as he was still gaining match fitness.
MID Dominique Badji will start on the wing for the second game in a row and second against Real Salt Lake this season. In his third campaign with the club, Badji leads the team in goals (9), assists (6), shots (54), and shots on goal (28). This will be his 32nd appearance and 28th start of the season.
FWD Alan Gordon had two shots on goal in 71 minutes during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas last week. The 36-year-old forward will be making his 25th appearance of the season, best for third in his career (29 in 2015 and 26 in 2008 with LA). Gordon is now 77 minutes shy of reaching 13,000 in his career.
On the Bench:
GK Zac MacMath’s six saves during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas tied his career-high set on June 28, 2014 while with the Philadelphia Union. Since arriving in Colorado prior to the 2015 campaign, MacMath has appeared in 29 games, posting a 12-10-7 record along the way.
DEF Mike da Fonte replaced Gordon in the 71st minute of the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. Da Fonte has yet to feature against Real Salt Lake after sitting out the first two meetings of the season. In his first campaign in MLS, da Fonte has played in 15 games, with 13 of those coming from the start.
DEF Bobby Burling remained on the bench for the second consecutive game. The 33-year-old centerback has only appeared in one of the last 20 regular season matches. In 11 campaigns in Major League Soccer, Burling has played in 167 games (151 starts) for Chivas USA, San Jose Earthquakes and the Rapids.
MID Luis Gil was an unused sub during the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. This season, Gil has played in both contests against his former club. The 23-year-old was subbed on in the 72nd minute of Orlando City’s 1-0 win on June 30, before playing the first 68 minutes of the Rapids’ 4-1 loss on August 26.
MID Ricardo Perez will be available for selection for the second game in a row, and first since the 3-1 win over Houston Dynamo on July 1. Perez remains the only Rapids field player that has yet to feature in a regular season game this year. The Homegrown player played all 90 minutes in both of Colorado’s U.S. Open Cup matches.
MID Dillon Serna has yet to feature against Real Salt Lake this season after being an unused sub in the first two meetings of the year. In five MLS seasons, the Rapids Homegrown player has eight goals and six assists in 69 appearances (37 starts).
