Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that goalkeeper Andre Rawls has been recalled ahead of Sunday's match against Sporting Kansas City. In addition, defender Kofi Opare and Clint Irwin will accelerate their return from injury this week by joining up with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC of the United Soccer League (USL) for their home opener against Sacramento Republic on Saturday. The duo will return to the Colorado Rapids immediately following the game.
Andre Rawls, who joined Colorado on December 14, 2018, spent the last three seasons with New York City FC. The 27-year-old was initially drafted by NYCFC 44th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2015 season at Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL, making 22 appearances for the club.
Opare, a native of Mampong, Ghana, joined Colorado in February after spending five seasons at D.C. United where he made 65 appearances, 62 from the start, scoring three goals and notching one assist.
Irwin, 29, rejoined Colorado after three seasons with Toronto FC While playing for the Canadian side, he featured in a combined 49 appearances and posted a record of 18-16-13 with 16 clean sheets in all competitions between 2016-18.
