It was a busy weekend for the Rapids Academy U-12 team as they traveled to Kansas City to compete in the inaugural Patterson Cup hosted by Sporting Kansas City Academy. The elite tournament featured six of the top academy programs in MLS. During day one, the Rapids fell to Toronto FC and eventual champions Chicago Fire. They bounced back during day two as they notched a 4-1 win against Real Salt Lake and a 4-3 win over Atlanta United FC. Carlos De Luna earned All-Tournament honors, while Martin Flores Bravo went home with the Golden Boot after scoring nine goals.
The Rapids junior teams were also in action this weekend as they went 5-0 against Arsenal Colorado scoring a total of 19 goals. U-14s Kevin Tlacalteco scored his first hat-trick of the season, while U-13s Theo Scott added a brace for his team.
