The Philadelphia Union are looking to keep pace with first-place D.C. United when they host a suddenly in-form Colorado Rapids squad that has won back-to-back games.

After three straight wins, the Union (7-4-3) managed just one point at home against a pair of Western Conference foes in their last two, falling to the Portland Timbers, 3-1, Saturday. Brian Fernandez struck twice in a five-minute span to give the Timbers a 2-0 halftime lead. Kacper Przybylko energized the crowd by slicing the Union deficit in half two minutes into the second half, but Diego Valeri added an insurance goal three minutes from full time.

One week after their first win of the 2019 season, the Rapids (2-9-2) tasted victory at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park for the first time this year with a 3-2 win over Columbus Crew SC. Nicolas Mezquida came up with the 89th-minute winner. It was Colorado's third lead of the game after Tommy Smith and Jonathan Lewis struck early, and late, in the first half.
