No thanks in part to the league schedule makers Colorado have started the ‘09 season playing four of their first five matches away from home.
Sunday's match kicks off at 1:00pm MT and the match will be televised in English on Universal Sports and in Spanish on Telefutura.
The Rapids will look to improve their overall record vs. Houston as they are 2-6-2 all time vs. the Dynamo and a winless 0-3-1 all time at Robertson Stadium.
In the last meeting between these two sides the Dynamo emerged victorious with a 3-1 win on October 4th of 2008.
Coming off their draw at the defending champs Columbus Colorado are looking to finish up their extended road trip with some more valuable road points before returning to the friendly confines of Dick's Sporting Goods Park next weekend. The Rapids are currently riding a three-game streak in which they have come away with points going 2-0-1. Should Colorado earn points this weekend it would be the first time the team has secured points in three straight road matches since their final three away games in 2005.
Firing on all cylinders for the Rapids is striker Conor Casey whose 4 goals on the season to date is good for the top spot in Major League Soccer. The Rapids are tied as the league’s second highest scoring club with seven goals and are tied for 1st in MLS in assists with seven. Colin Clark and Omar Cumming are tied among the league leaders for 2nd place with two assists apiece.
Houston currently sit tied for sixth place in the Western Conference eight points behind leaders Chivas USA and are still in search of their first win in ’09. Last season the Dynamo didn’t find their first win until Week 7 in a 2-1 victory over the Rapids. Houston were held scoreless in their last two match and Brian Ching Brad Davis and Chris Wondolowski each have tallied one goal to equally lead the club in scoring.
