Commerce City CO (Tuesday July 10 2007)- The Colorado Rapids’ team captain Pablo Mastroeni today was named as part of the 18-man MLS All-Star team roster for the sixth consecutive year by this year's MLS All-Star coach Steve Nicol.
The MLS All-Stars take on Glasgow Celtic FC in Mastroeni’s home stadium Dick’s Sporting Goods Park next Thursday July 19 at 7 p.m.
After joining the Rapids in 2002 Mastroeni has not failed to be named as an All-Star. In that time he has also represented his country twice in the World Cup (with the USA in 2002 and 2006). This year he was on the US squad that captured the Gold Cup and qualified for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Mastroeni has established himself as one of the squad’s most renowned and respected players both on and off the field and both at a national and international level. Mastroeni was named the Rapids’ team captain on Sept. 23 2004 and has lived up to that responsibility ever since.
