RAPIDS RESERVES GAME #2
Rapids Reserves 2 Dynamo Reserves 0
WESTMINSTER CO - Led by two goals from newly-acquired forward Thiago Martins the Colorado Rapids Reserves (2-0-0 6 pts) defeated the Houston Dynamo Reserves (0-1-0 0 pts.) 2-0 on April 30 in a game played at the Rapids training facility in Westminster CO.
The Dynamo created the first scoring opportunity of the match in the 20th minute when Ronald Cerritos' accurate pass into space left forward Marcus Storey in a one-on-one situation against goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul. The Rapids keeper made a spectacular save on Storey who tried to chip the ball over Coundoul.
The home team created their first opportunity in the 23rd minute when midfielder Colin Clark sent an outswinging cross into the heart of Houston's area. Martins met the cross but saw his header sail high above the crossbar.
Martins' tireless efforts finally paid off in the 44th minute of the game when he collected a long ball from defender Dan Gargan. The 40 yard cross off a free kick was controlled by Martins inside of the penalty area before he nailed his shot past goalkeeper Zach Wells for the 1-0 lead.
Only seconds later a goal netted by Cerritos was called back due to an offside ruling.
The second goal of the day came quick in the second half when Martins netted his second tally in the 50th minute. It was Gargan again who started the play with a powerful low cross from the right side of the Dynamo's penalty area. The long range shot caught Wells by surprise and he attempted to make the save but was only able to deflect the shot and gave a rebound into the center of the penalty box. Martins was in the right place at the right time to push the rebound into an open net for the 2-0 lead.

RAPIDS RESERVES GAME #1
Rapids Reserves 4 Crew Reserves 0
WESTMINSTER CO - Four different players scored goals and Bouna Coundoul kept a clean sheet for the Colorado Rapids Reserves in a 4-0 victory over the Columbus Crew Reserves in a game played at the Rapids training facility in Westminster Colorado on Sunday April 9 at 11:00 a.m. (MT).
Sasha Gotsmanov Aaron King Luchi Gonzalez and Dan Gargan all got on the score sheet as Colorado won their MLS Reserve League opener.
The Rapids struck first in the 26th minute when Gonzalez played a through ball down the right touchline for Jacob Peterson. Peterson raced toward the near post drew the goalkeeper off of his line and slotted the ball to Gotsmanov who finished the play.
Just two minutes later Rapids left back Jordan Harvey played a ball into the box from the sideline that Denver native King latched on to and put in the back of the net.
Eleven minutes from the halftime whistle Anthony Peters was called for a hand ball inside the Crew penalty area. Gonzalez stepped up and placed the ball to the right as goalie Andy Grenebaum dove to the left to put the Rapids up 3-nil.
The Rapids closed their scoring account in the second-to-last-minute of the game when Gotsmanov beat two Crew defenders in the corner and got a cross off to the far post. King redirected the ball back toward the middle and guest player Cody Berg flicked the ball on to Gargan who scored into the empty net.
The Rapids will be back in league action this coming Saturday April 15th when they take on Western Conference rivals FC Dallas at 7 p.m. at INVESCO Field. Colorado knocked Dallas out of the playoffs in a shootout last season.
