Commerce City, Colo.- On Thursday, June 30, 2011 the Rapids hosted the 4th Annual Colorado Rapids World Cup of Wine and Beer. Due to the unexpected weather conditions, the event was moved from the pitch to the concourse at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, which proved to be a great venue.
Over 300 people attended the event – a new attendance record. Fans, clients, and friends enjoyed mingling with the Colorado Rapids players while sampling food and libations.
Upon entering the gate each guest checked in and was greeted with a glass of champagne, courtesy of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte. Through the misting rain everyone was able to enjoy the radiant view of the field.
New this year, and courtesy of Masters Entertainment Group, were gaming tables allowing guests to play black jack, roulette and craps for fun. Additionally, guests had the opportunity to take their photo with the 2010 MLS Cup or enjoy the Ear2Ear photo booth.
Guests also took part in the silent auction and purchased Mystery Corks that offered prizes from many businesses around the Denver metro area.
Thanks to the support of attendees, Kroenke Sports Charities raised more than $23,000 to support education, nutrition, and recreation programs for children and families in Colorado.
The Colorado Rapids and Kroenke Sports Charities would like to thank everyone who participated in this event. We would also like to recognize Heineken USA, Coors Light, Marco’s Pizza, Coca-Cola, Southern Wine & Spirits, Texas de Brazil, Sporting News Grill, The Berkshire, KIND Bar, Vitamin Water, and Muscle Milk for their contributions.
