Univision annouced Wednesday that it will broadcast an additional 23 MLS regular-season matches on its new sports network, Univision Deportes Network (UDN), including three Colorado Rapids matches.
The first MLS game on UDN will be Saturday at 4 pm MT, when the Colorado Rapids host the Philadelphia Union in their 2013 season opener at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Univision Deportes will also broadcast the Rapids match versus Portland on March 30 and Colorado's game at Montreal on June 29.
UDN's sister network UniMás' had already scheduled to air 26 MLS regular-season games, giving the Univision family of networks a total of 49 nationally televised games. UniMas will carry the Rapids match at Houston on April 28 and and Rapids at Chivas USA on August 11.
All five of Colorado match's on Univision Deportes and UniMas will also be shown regionally on Altitude TV.
In addition to the MLS regular-season games, the Univision Deportes broadcast package also includes extensive Spanish-language coverage of the MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup 2013, and live streaming of select games on Univision's digital network UVideos.
The UDN's broadcast will not effect blackout restrictions on MLS Live.
NOTE: MLS this week also changed the start time of the Rapids at Seattle Sounders match on July 20 from 9 p.m. MT to 2 p.m. MT. The match will now be aired on Altitude TV instead of the NBC Sports Network.
