This Friday, a local soccer “derby” match will take place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, when the club soccer teams from the University of Colorado and Colorado State University square off in what the teams call the “Rocky Mountain College Cup.” The annual event will have the women’s teams facing each other at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s teams at 7:30 p.m.
The event was first held in 2010, and the Buffalos have topped the Rams in each of the first three editions of the Cup. The winner is determined by total goals over both the men’s and women’s matches.
Gates at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will open at 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, with designated seating sections for supporters from CU and CSU. Tickets are $20 and also include entry to a future Colorado Rapids match – they can be purchased from the club teams themselves, at the DSGP Box Office on the day of the match, or by calling the Box Office at 303-727-3535.
