Today, Colorado Rapids forward Gabriel Torres was named Latino Player of the Week by FutbolMLS.com for Week 32. On Saturday, Oct. 5, Torres scored his first MLS goal and also contributed an assist in the 5-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders.
The weekly award is voted on by fans, and this is the second time this season that a Colorado Rapids player has earned the recognition. Hendry Thomas was selected by fans after his performance in the 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on August 17, during which he completed more than 50 passes, and was a key part of shutting down Vancouver's Camilo to shut out the visitors.
All players selected as Latino Player of the Week during the regular season are automatically eligible to be named Lation Player of the Year. The award is voted on by fans, and the voting process begins soon.
