COMMERCE CITY, Colo – Colorado Rapids 2 have signed Rapids Academy midfielder Jonathan De La Fuente to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today. De La Fuente becomes the ninth Academy product to sign with Rapids 2 since the league began in 2022.

"Jonathan is a versatile player who has consistently demonstrated a strong understanding of the game, excellent technical qualities, and the ability to impact matches on both sides of the ball," said Brian Crookham, Director of Player Personnel. "Achieving this opportunity is a reflection of the work he has put into his development, and we're looking forward to seeing him continue that growth at the professional level."

The Colorado native quickly established himself as an important piece of the Rapids 2 squad since making his MLS NEXT Pro debut less than two months ago on June 6. After earning his first professional start just three matches later, De La Fuente has gone on to make seven appearances, totaling five starts and 440 minutes this season.

Since joining the Rapids Academy two years ago, De La Fuente emerged as a leader within the club's youth system. The midfielder has been an integral part of the 2009 age group and has worn the captain's armband on multiple occasions for the U-18 squad.

On the international stage, De La Fuente has become a regular contributor for Mexico's youth national teams, earning multiple call-ups and playing a significant role in recent competitions. Earlier this year, he helped Mexico capture the Torneo del Sol title after appearing in four matches before starting all four of the nation's Concacaf U-17 World Cup qualifying fixtures in February, totaling 294 minutes as Mexico posted a perfect 4-0 record and a 20-2 goal differential.
