Rapids 2 return home eager to turn the page following last weekend's road loss to LAFC 2. Even with a dominant showing to start off the first half, the hosts would score first in the 33rd minute. Colorado kept the pressure over the course of the match, but LAFC 2 would extend their lead by two midways through the second half. Unable to mount a late comeback, Rapids 2 would eventually fall 3-0.
On the other side of the pitch this weekend is a St. Louis CITY2 side hoping to solidify their spot in the standings following a strong performance against Real Monarchs at home last weekend. After a scoreless first half, St. Louis opened their account in the 51st minute and added two more goals before the end of the match, locking in the three points and a shutout win. Although CITY2 sits seventh in the Western Conference, the team has struggled on the road, managing only two wins out of 10 away games so far this season.
Meeting for the first time at DSGP, both sides will be determined to tilt the season series in their favor. Drawing in both contests earlier this season, St. Louis CITY2 walked away with the extra point each time. In their first matchup, Rapids 2 held the lead until the very end, but a late goal by CITY2 pushed the match into a shootout. Facing off for the second time at the beginning of June, Colorado got on the scoreboard first, but CITY2 responded before the end of the first half to keep the match level until the end of regulation.
Rapids 2's Josh Copeland has made a habit of finding the back of the net against St. Louis, and the forward will look to do so again this weekend. Responsible for two of Rapids 2's three goals against CITY2 this season, Copeland is tied for the most goal contributions by a player in the 2026 campaign entering Saturday's matchup.
