COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids 2 (8-0-3, 29 pts) will face off against LAFC2 (1-5-4, 7 pts) for the first time in league history on Sunday, June 11, at Titan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. MT and the game will be broadcast through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV

Rapids 2 is coming off one of its most challenging weeks as they took on Earthquakes II for the second time this season. The game at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park was marked by a late second half comeback from the team after going down by two goals within 60 minutes.

Midfielder Yosuke Hanya was the first to give the Rapids a glimpse of hope after he was fouled in the box for a penalty kick opportunity in the 82nd minute. With the squad still down by one, it was midfielder Daouda Amadou who showed his heroic nature in the 95th minute of the match when the team earned its final play of the match. Dillon Serna stood over a corner kick, delivering a perfect ball into the box to Amadou who put a header into the back of the net to end the game in a 2-2 draw.

Entering its third MLS NEXT Pro shootout of the year, goalkeeper Adam Beaudry stood tall and made two back-to-back penalty kick saves to give Colorado the edge it needed to collect the extra point on the weekend.

With the team’s result against Earthquakes II, they marked themselves in the MLS NEXT Pro record books for the longest unbeaten run in league history (11 games). They also yet again solidified their standing as the number one team in the Western Conference and the league overall.

Alongside Rapids 2’s new unbeaten record, Colorado also holds the title for the most goals scored this season with 29 goals and the most assists this season with 22. Beyond the team’s accomplishments, Hanya continues to lead the league in goals with eight this season while midfielder Oliver Larraz is tied for the title for most assists in the league with five.

Rapids 2 will now prepare to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games as they travel to Fullerton, California to take on LAFC2.

The home side currently sits in last place in the Western Conference with only one win under their belt. They have also conceded twice as many goals as they have scored this season, allowing the fiery Rapids attack to take advantage of a breakdown in the LAFC defense. However, LAFC has proven to be a solid presence in possession, forcing the Rapids to fight for moments where they can find opportunities to advance in attack.
