Academy Update: DA secures four clean sheets, senior teams prep for Winter Showcase -

Colorado Rapids Development Academy enjoyed four wins and four clean sheets last Saturday against Pride Switchbacks DA of Colorado Springs.


The U-14s were convincing 7-0 winners, thanks to a hat-trick from Zackary Salfi, as well as goals from Ezekiel Anderson (2), Keith Chavarria, and Kevin Tlaxcalteco. Anderson’s brace lifted him to 14 goals from 14 games. Marcelo Balboa’s team sit at 10-4-1 through 15 games


Two goals for Jacob Lahlou helped the U-13s to a 4-0 win, and a first success in five outings. Other strikes came from Ibrahim Al Saaid and Alexis Salas. The U-13s, under Andrew Kewley, are 10-5-0.


Elsewhere on Saturday, and Jack De Simone scored a hat-trick, with two for Taban Luna, as the early game ended in a comfortable win for first U-12s encounter. Martin Flores and Charles Sharp then both netted twice in the later game to cap a fine weekend for the DA.


All is not yet done for the winter. The U-18/19s and U-16/17s head to Florida at the end of November for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, playing three games in four days.


The U-18/19s’ schedule is as follows:
November 29 - vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
November 30 - vs. Concorde Fire
December 2 - vs. Crew SC Academy


The U-16/17s tackle Crew SC Academy on November 30, Chargers Soccer Club on December 1, and Chicago Fire Soccer Academy on December 3.


The three senior sides then briefly return the first weekend of February, when they travel to Texas for back-to-back games. All age groups resume in earnest the first weekend of March.
