Colorado Rapids Development Academy players returned from Panama, having learned a little bit more about the game, but a whole lot more about the Central American country.

The squad, which consisted of U-15 and U-17 players, traveled on the inaugural direct Copa Airlines flight from Denver to Panama City, and were both athletes and ambassadors during the six-day trip.

They completed the visit with a narrow 3-2 loss to Panama U-16s, having started with a 4-2 victory over San Francisco FC last Wednesday, with goals from Jason Robles, Logan Dorsey, Dhani Russell. and Hadrood Webster.

The match against the Panama national team youngsters was at Estadio Rommel Fernandez, where in October the senior side stamped their pass to next year’s World Cup finals with a dramatic late winner against Costa Rica.

In between the soccer, the Rapids’ DA players enjoyed a reception at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence, traveled on the Panama Canal Train, visited the Miraflores Locks, as well as a local school in Panama City.
