Academy Update: U-15s top Sporting Kansas City Academy, U-18/19s held at a draw -

All seven Development Academy teams were in action this past weekend and emerged with four wins, two losses and one draw.

Oliver Larraz and Samuel Owusu scored in the U-18/19s' 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City. Larraz has now scored five goals in the last seven games and is the fifth leading scorer in the Central Division. There was late drama for the U-16/17s with the contest ending in a 1-0 loss. Edward Mendy’s goal in the 70th minute proved the winner for SKC, with the Rapids unable to find an equalizer late in the game.

Two goals from Darren Yapi and one each from Joaquin Torres and Maclovio Swett earned the U-15s a 4-0 win over the Sporting KC Academy. Yapi also has scored five goals in his last seven contests. He is tied for ninth among the U-15s leaders in the Central Division.

Elsewhere, it was unfortunate circumstances for the  U-14s as they lost due to an own goal in the 80th minute vs Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club.

The U-13s triumphed 3-2 against CRYSC with a brace from Alexis Salas and a goal from Keegan Kloppenberg.

Meanwhile, both of the U-12teams had a successful weekend. In the early game, the Rapids overcame CRYSC 4-0 by goals from Nolan Fuerst, Zach Werner, Justin Ceballos and Ethan Merrigan. Sets of hat-tricks from Martin Flores and Andrew Harwell gave way for a 6-0 victory in the later contest.

The U-14s will be the only team in action next weekend as they travel to California to face Los Angeles Football Club Academy, Total Futbol Academy, Los Angeles United Futbol Academy and the San Jose Earthquakes Academy.
