Six teams from five age groups within the Colorado Rapids’ Development Academy were involved in 14 games at a DA showcase event over the weekend.

The U-18/19s were successful in both of their games in Texas. On Saturday, they came from a goal down to defeat FC Dallas 2-1. The Rapids’ response came courtesy of a brace from Enoch Mushagalusa. This was followed by a 4-2 victory on Sunday over Solar Soccer Club.

For the U-16/17s, a mixed experience in the Lone Star State. They were toppled 3-1 by Dallas, before edging Solar 2-1. The Reserves tied both games, against Dallas (2-2) and Solar (1-1).

It was a similar story for the U-15s. They were undone 2-0 by Dallas, but defeated Solar 3-1. That loss to Dallas ended a four-game winning stretch, and is only their second reversal in seven outings this season (5-2-0).

The U-14s and U-13s were in California, with both playing three games over two days. The U-14s got a little bit of everything, in a tough bracket, returning home with a win, a draw, and a loss. They started with a 2-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, thanks to goals from Maclovio Swett and Connor Miller.

It was left to Darren Yapi to hand the U-14s a 1-1 tie with Los Angeles United Futbol Academy on Sunday. That match was followed by a 4-0 loss to LA Galaxy later in the day.

The U-13s also came away from California with a 1-1-1 record. They opened on Friday morning with a 1-1 draw against Portland Timbers. Ty Freedman equalized for Danny Stone’s team. A single goal from Keith Chavarria ensured a 1-0 win over Washington Premier FC on Friday afternoon, before the Galaxy proved too strong on Saturday with a 5-1 win. Graham Goodson grabbed the Rapids’ consolation.
