Balboa, Angeli, Moor headline Rapids on-air personalities in 2023

The man, the myth, the legend.

World Cup, USMNT and MLS veteran Marcelo Balboa is set to be a key face of the inaugural Apple Season Pass broadcast team that was announced earlier this month.

"Chelo” will take a place as a match analyst for Apple in 2023 after calling Rapids games on Altitude for the past two decades.

The MLS All-Time Best XI defender and club legend has served as an analyst for MLS and international matches as part of Univision’s broadcast team. In the past, Balboa has also covered the Summer Olympics, multiple World Cups and has been a key figure in the growth of MLS for nearly 30 years.

In addition to his TV broadcast duties, Balboa will contribute to videos produced by the Rapids, including club profiles, features, analysis and historical content seen on club channels and Apple's MLS Season Pass platform.

Jordan Angeli, Analyst & Host

Colorado’s own returns!

Re-joining the club in 2023, Jordan Angeli will serve as the face of the club’s Apple Season Pass and club digital channels, hosting exclusive interviews, features and segments while providing in-depth analysis consistently during the season. On matchday, fans will see Angeli as an in-stadium analyst and host and she will contribute to the radio broadcast as an analyst at various points in 2023.

A rising star in the U.S. soccer broadcasting landscape, Angeli was named the first full-time female TV Analyst in Columbus Crew history in 2020 and worked with their broadcast and in-house media teams for three seasons. Angeli was with the Rapids from 2016-2019, serving as the in-stadium host in 2016 before taking on the role of radio color analyst from 2017-19. She also hosted Tailgate Live, the Rapids’ digital pregame show while filling in on Altitude TV’s broadcast.

In 2023, fans can also see Angeli as a match analyst for NWSL matches on CBS Sports Network and Paramount+.

A former professional player, Angeli featured for the Boston Breakers (2010-2012) and the Washington Spirit (2014) of Women’s Professional Soccer, as well as for the Western New York Flash (2015) of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Drew Moor, Analyst & Ambassador

Have no fear, the dad jokes will continue in 2023.

MLS and club legend Drew Moor will stay on with the club in a multi-faceted role that includes an analyst role for club video content, radio broadcasts and in-game segments.

In his new role, Moor will be a key face of the club’s video content including features around the club’s supporters, traditions and larger Colorado soccer community. He will also provide in-depth analysis alongside Jordan Angeli for the Apple Season Pass platform and club channels.

Moor retired from the league in 2022 with two MLS Cups, including one with the Rapids in 2010. The former defender played 18 seasons overall including 10 in Colorado and claimed a Supporters’ Shield and three Canadian Championships along with his two MLS titles.

"It’s exciting to stay with a club that I have so much love and respect for and a group of men and women that I have so much love and respect for, as well," Moor said. "Although I’m moving into a new role with their broadcast team I feel like my knowledge of the club can help me do well in this position. I can’t wait to get started, bring good, positive energy, tell a few dad jokes, and continue to express my love for the Rapids."

Connor Cape, Radio Play-by-Play

Connor Cape is back for his sixth season as the radio play-by-play for the Rapids on Altitude Radio.

Since joining the radio broadcast ahead of the 2018 season, Cape has called every match for the club including the MLS regular season, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, US Open Cup and friendlies against Boca Juniors and Arsenal. He has called matches alongside Jordan Angeli, Brian Crookham, and former Rapids players, Tim Howard, Marcelo Balboa, Bobby Burling, Alan Gordon and Marc Burch.

Cape will call all 34 MLS regular season matches in 2023, with the home broadcasts being available as part of Apple’s Season Pass service and Altitude Radio's channels. Cape and the broadcast team will travel to away matches in 2023, providing exclusive pregame and postgame content along the way. Cape has also contributed to the club in other areas during his time - hosting events and co-hosting Rapids’ Tailgate Live digital pregame show in 2018 alongside Jordan Angeli.

Brian Crookham, Radio Color Analyst

Brian Crookham returns as the primary color analyst for the 2023 season alongside Connor Cape.

Crookham’s expertise and knowledge of the club is unmatched as he also serves as the Colorado Rapids 2 General Manager and Senior Director of Soccer Development.

Crookham has nearly 20 years of broadcasting experience in both TV and radio, first filling in for Rapids' radio broadcasts at Mile High Stadium in 2003 before becoming the first analyst for Altitude TV. Crookham has been paired with Cape in the radio booth as the official color analyst since 2021, and has since called some of the Rapids' most memorable matchups, including his favorite, Colorado's 5-2 Decision Day win in 2021 that saw the Rapids clinch the top seed in the Western Conference.

Mike Revollo, Club Video Reporter & Producer

Mike Revollo enters his third season with the club and will continue to provide all-access and team coverage as a Club Video Reporter and Producer.

Revollo has served as a bilingual Club Video Producer since December of 2020 and has worked on short and long-form content including the club's docuseries 'Elevate', vlogs from around the team and exclusive player interviews.

In 2023, Revollo will continue his work both in front and behind the camera. He’ll also feature alongside broadcast and on-air talent to cover the Rapids and uncover stories. Finally, he'll continue to showcase his bilingual talents to provide updates from the Spanish-speaking players on the roster.
