Colorado Rapids Academy adds nine new players to the U-17 roster for the 2023-24 MLS NEXT season

The Colorado Rapids Academy is gearing up for another season in MLS NEXT that will see a handful of new faces join the ranks of the academy’s rosters. Ahead of the 2023-24 MLS NEXT season, the Rapids U-17 team has added nine new players to the roster. Learn more about the new Rapids Academy players below. 

Zackory Campagnolo, Goalkeeper 

Campagnolo, 16, joined the Rapids Academy as an addition to the U-17 team in August 2023 after spending three seasons with the Orlando City Academy. Campagnolo started his time with Orlando City’s U-15 side in 2020 before joining the U-17s at the beginning of the 2022-23 MLS NEXT season. During his time with Orlando City, the goalkeeper had the opportunity to spend time with Sporting Portugal in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2022 and Germany’s FC Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in 2023. 

The Florida-born goalkeeper brings with him prior national team experience, having earned call ups to both the U.S. U-15 and U-16 Men’s Youth National Teams. Campagnolo made his first official national team debut in 2022 at the Torneo Delle Nazioni, Italy, playing in three matches against Slovenia, Italy and Portugal. He also earned himself the Man of the Match honor for his performance against Italy during the Italy-based tournament. Campagnolo made the jump to the U-16 team in November 2022, earning a call up for the Football Federations Cup in Spain where he made two appearances for the team in their matches against Spain and England. He also joined the U-16s for the International Dream Cup in Fukushima, Japan, in May 2023. Most recently, Campagnolo was called into the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team for the Vaclav Jezek Tournament taking place from Sept. 1-11 in the Czech Republic. 

Andre Erickson, Forward

Erickson, 15,  joins the Rapids Academy as a product of the California-based club Napa United. A dynamic player on the pitch, Erickson joins the squad as a wide forward who is also capable of occupying a central attacking midfield and fullback positions. The California native was a standout among MLS NEXT players last season, receiving an invitation to the MLS NEXT Best Of Game. In addition, Erickson has been able to impress at the national team level, having earned the opportunity to attend a U.S. Youth National Team Davis ID Center for the class of 2008. 

Wyatt Harding, Forward

Harding comes to the Rapids Academy after spending time developing his soccer career at Solar SC in Allen, Texas. The 15-year-old forward is known for his versatility on the pitch and his dribbling ability to create goal scoring opportunities and draw fouls and set pieces in and around the opponent's box. During the 2022-23 MLS NEXT season, Harding helped his U-16 side to a spot in the semifinals in the MLS NEXT Cup. 

Brady Reed, Midfielder 

A native of Missoula, Montana, Reed joins the Rapids U-17 side as a product of the Missoula Strikers. A creative attacking central midfielder, Reed was named the 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year for high school boys soccer in the state of Montana. In addition, Reed was the first-ever player from Montana to be named to the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program National Team. In his most recent high school soccer season with Missoula Hellgate, Reed helped lead his team to a 16-1 record and a fourth-straight State AA Championship. He ended the season with 10 goals and 23 assists for his high school team. 

Lucas Sarvas, Midfielder

Sarvas returns to the Colorado Rapids Academy after a short stint with LA Galaxy’s Academy. He was a part of the Rapids Academy during his U-13 and U-14 years prior to relocating to Los Angeles. Sarvas rejoins the Rapids organization ahead of the 2023-24 MLS NEXT season as a part of the U-17 squad. During his time with LA Galaxy, the midfielder was a central part of the U-15 side that made a run all the way to the quarter-finals of the MLS NEXT Cup. He shows his technical ability through his box to box play and his confidence between the lines. Sarvas is also notably the son of former Colorado Rapids player Marcelo Sarvas who made 25 appearances for the Colorado Rapids in 2015 and was the winner of MLS Cup in 2012 and 2014 with LA Galaxy. He currently serves as the head coach for LA Galaxy 2 in MLS NEXT Pro.

Maxim Scordo, Forward

The top scorer in all of MLS NEXT over the 2022-23 season, Scordo joins the Rapids Academy as a product of the Irvine Strikers. Last season, Scordo managed to put away 52 goals across his 33 appearances with the Irvine Strikers’ U-16 side to solidify his spot at the top of the league’s scoring chart. His performances across the most recent MLS NEXT season earned Scordo the MLS NEXT '22-'23 MVP award presented by adidas and a selection to the MLS Next All-Star Game where he represented the West in the team’s 5-4 penalty kick victory. 

Colton Swan, Forward

Swan, 16, was a standout among MLS NEXT players in the 2022-23 season. The forward is a product of the Michigan Jaguars where he scored 25 goals in 21 appearances in his most recent season with the U-16 side. Swan and his team made a run all the way to the semifinals of the 2022-23 MLS NEXT Cup where he earned himself both a MLS NEXT Cup Player of the Day award and the MLS NEXT Cup Golden Boot award. 

Jaden Chan Tack, Defender 

A native of Florida, Chan Tack is joining the Rapids Academy’s U-17 side from former club South Florida SA. The dynamic, left footed full back is known for his dangerous crosses and set piece attacks and brings with him a punch of defensive energy. Chan Tack has previous national team experience as he spent time with Trinidad and Tobago’s U-17 team at training camp in December 2022 as they continued their preparation for the Concacaf U-17 Men’s Championship. 

Tyler Williams, Defender/Forward

Williams, 16, is coming off his final season with Albion Las Vegas where he competed with the club’s U-16 side during the 2022-23 MLS NEXT season. Known for his athleticism, Williams is a versatile pick up for the Rapids U-17 team as he can pose a threat on both sides of the field as a forward and a full back. During his most recent season, Williams added 10 goals across 30 appearances with Albion Las Vegas.
