Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced Wednesday the acquisition of $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) from Houston Dynamo, in exchange for defender Jared Watts.

“We want to thank Jared for his contributions to our club over the past four seasons,” said Rapids Executive Vice President and General Manager Pádraig Smith. “He is a genuine, committed professional, and we wish him the best of luck as he begins this next chapter of his career.”

Watts, 26, was selected by the Rapids with the 33rd overall pick of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. Since then, the Statesville, North Carolina native has appeared in 71 matches for the Rapids, with 61 of those coming as a starter. Watts’ departure comes in the wake of a substantial overhaul to the first team roster this past offseason, including the addition of 14 new players.
