Colorado Rapids announce 2027 MLS Sprint Season schedule

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids today unveiled their match schedule for the 2027 Major League Soccer Sprint Season, featuring a home slate built around daytime and early-evening kickoffs, with every home match starting by 7:00 p.m. MT. The high-stakes, 14-match season runs from February through May 2027 before the league permanently transitions to a summer-to-spring calendar starting in July 2027 to better align with international competitions.

The 2027 Sprint Season offers fans a fast-paced regular season featuring seven home fixtures and seven away matches exclusively against Western Conference opponents. The Colorado Rapids will host their home opener on Saturday, Feb. 27, against the LA Galaxy at 2:00 p.m. MT at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park. The club then hosts rival Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 6, for a 2:00 p.m. MT kickoff in the Rocky Mountain Cup as Colorado looks to retain the trophy for a fourth consecutive season. The Rapids close out the season at home with a Decision Day matchup against San Diego FC, on Saturday, May 8 at 6:00 p.m. MT.

The Rapids schedule is designed specifically for the Colorado fan experience. Five of the Rapids’ seven home matches kick off at 6:00 p.m. or earlier, including a pair of 2:00 p.m. Saturday matinees to open the season. This fan-first approach gives fans more sunlight, warmer temperatures, optimal tailgate hours, and an incredible overall matchday atmosphere.

Every single match carries heightened importance, as top finishers will earn qualification for the Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs in May, as well as spots in the 2028 Concacaf Champions Cup and 2028 Leagues Cup.

Key Highlights of the 2027 Sprint Season Schedule:

• Kickoffs Built for Colorado: Two 2:00 p.m. matinees, three 6:00 p.m. starts and just two 7:00 p.m. matches. Every home match kicks off by 7:00 p.m. MT, with afternoon slots prioritized during the coldest stretch of the season.

• 14 Intra-Conference Matches: Seven home and seven away, with the Rapids facing each Western Conference rival once.

• High-Stakes Postseason: The top eight teams in each conference qualify for the single-elimination Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs in May, culminating in the 2027 MLS Cup.
