COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Colorado Rapids defender Daniel Chacón has undergone successful surgery on his right knee to repair an anterior cruciate ligament tear, the club announced today. Chacón will conduct his rehabilitation, which is expected to last nine months, with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in Costa Rica.

Chacón, 22, was loaned to Alajuelense in July after becoming the first Colorado Rapids 2 player to sign a first-team contract with the club. He originally joined Rapids 2 in June 2022 from Costa Rican club C.S. Cartaginés and was immediately loaned back to the side for the remainder of the year in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where Chacón featured for Los Ticos.
