Commerce City, CO - Sean St. Ledger has undergone successful surgery on his right knee and has begun rehabilitation.

The defender had an arthroscopic procedure and repair work on a torn meniscus on Tuesday. He is expected to be absent from Rapids training for four-to-six weeks before starting a “return to play” protocol.

The 31-year-old joined the Rapids off waivers from Orlando City on Aug. 7, 2015. He played a total of 2,261 minutes last season, 1,048 of which came in his 12 starts for Pablo Mastroeni’s side. He was credited with two assists in that time - both headers for compatriot Kevin Doyle.

“We hope this is a fresh start for Sean,” says Paul Bravo, VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director. “He is yet to play for us this season, so we wanted to make a positive decision regarding his injury situation.

“Now he needs to recuperate, get fit and then push for a place in the side. Everyone at Colorado Rapids would like to wish him a speedy recovery.”
