The Colorado Rapids have recalled defender Sam Rabenfrom the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC while forward Matt Hundley and goalkeeper Andre Rawls have been loaned to the Rapids USL affiliate. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Hundley and Rawls at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Raben, 21, became the tenth Development Academy player to sign a first-team contract with the Rapids on January 15. He represented the Development Academy at the U-18/19 level and was a member of the Rapids U-23 team in the Premier Development League (PDL) during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. At the NCAA level, Raben made 91 starts for Wake Forest, tied for third most in program history and helped his team to 46 clean sheets during that time.
Hundley, from Littleton, Colorado, signed a four-year Homegrown contract with the Rapids on January 15. He has featured for the Rapids’ U-18/19 Development Academy team. The talented striker concluded his freshman year at UCLA with 19 appearances, 14 from the start. He led the team in scoring with five goals and contributed seven assists. Hundley has been a part of the U-17 and U-19 US national teams and was part of this year’s U-19 youth national team January camp.
Rawls, who joined Colorado on December 14, 2018, spent the last three seasons with New York City FC. The 26-year-old was initially drafted by NYCFC 44th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2015 season at Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL, making 22 appearances for the club.
