COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club has parted ways with forward Diego Rubio who is out of contract and will not return to the Rapids for the 2024 MLS season.

“We’re thankful to Diego for everything he contributed to the club during his five seasons in Burgundy and wish him all the best as he moves on to the next stage of his career,” said Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith.

Rubio, 30, joined the Rapids ahead of the 2019 season and went on to make 114 regular-season appearances for the club, 97 as starts, recording 38 goals and 26 assists. The Chilean international enjoyed a career 2022 season in which he set a new club record for most goal contributions in a single season (16 goals, seven assists) and matched the club record held by Conor Casey for most goals scored in an individual season (16). His 38 career goals in Burgundy are the third-most by any player in club history, while his 26 assists rank seventh all-time.

Thank You, Diego
