COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has recalled midfielder Cole Bassett from his loan with Feyenoord Rotterdam and immediately loaned him to fellow Dutch side Fortuna Sittard for the remainder of the 2022-23 Eredivisie season. As part of the terms of the agreement, Feyenoord will retain their option to purchase Bassett from the Rapids at the end of the loan.

Bassett, 21, originally joined Feyenoord in January on an 18-month loan from the Rapids and went on to make eight appearances for the Rotterdam side, recording one assist.

Prior to making the trip overseas, Bassett made 72 appearances for the Rapids, recording 13 goals and 11 assists since making his professional debut with the club on Sept. 8, 2018. A native of Littleton, Colo., Bassett is a product of local youth side Colorado Rush and joined the Rapids Academy in 2017 before signing a Homegrown Player contract with the club in August 2018 at age 17, then the youngest signing in Rapids history. At the time, he set additional records as the youngest player in club history to make his professional debut and score a goal.
