COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has signed Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq to a contract through the 2027-28 MLS season, with a club option for 2028-29. Sadiq will occupy an international roster slot and is expected to join the team pending receipt of his P-1 Visa. The deal was completed prior to the close of the Secondary Transfer Window.

“Ibrahim is an exciting attacking player who has demonstrated his quality across several competitive European leagues,” said Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith. “His pace, directness, and ability to create and score goals from wide areas will add another important dimension to our attack. He also brings valuable experience of winning championships and competing in European competition. We are delighted to welcome Ibrahim to Colorado.”

Sadiq, 26, joins Colorado after spending the past three seasons with AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie. The winger made 85 appearances across all competitions for AZ, recording 18 goals and seven assists. During his time with the club, Sadiq helped AZ capture the 2025-26 KNVB Cup and was named to the Eredivisie Team of the Month in September 2024.

“Ibrahim gives us a different dimension in the attacking areas of the pitch,” said Colorado Rapids Head Coach Matt Wells. “He is explosive, aggressive in one-v-one situations and constantly looks to threaten the space behind the opposition. The fans that watch us week in week out will know how important our pressing is and Ibrahim has the intensity and willingness to defend in that way. He is a player I faced in the Europa League knockout stages when I was at Tottenham and I was a huge admirer of him then after analyzing the problems he was causing teams in the build-up to the game. To now be able to sign him and become his Head Coach makes me absolutely delighted. As a club we should be really proud that we are attracting players of this caliber to come and join us. This is testament to both our environment and style of play. I’m very excited to start working with him.”

Prior to joining AZ, Sadiq spent two seasons with BK Häcken in Sweden, where he registered 27 goals and eight assists across 43 appearances in all competitions. Sadiq helped Häcken capture the 2022 Allsvenskan title, the first league championship in club history, before joining AZ in September 2023.

Sadiq began his European career with FC Nordsjælland after developing at Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy. After progressing through Nordsjælland’s youth system, he made 63 first-team appearances across all competitions, recording six goals and three assists.

At the international level, Sadiq represented Ghana at the youth level, including at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India. He also represented Ghana at the U-20 level.
