COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have signed Rapids 2 goalkeeper Bryan Dowd to an MLS contract through the 2026 MLS season with club options ahead of the 2027 Sprint Season and the 2027-28 MLS regular season.
“Bryan has earned this opportunity through the quality of his performances in training,” said Colorado Rapids Sporting Director Fran Taylor. “He has quickly gained the trust of his coaches and teammates, and his confidence, character and mentality make him an excellent fit for our group. We look forward to his continued development with the club.”
Dowd, 24, joined the club in July after spending the last year with FC Cincinnati 2. Since arriving, the goalkeeper has made four starts for Rapids 2 in net, logging 10 saves. After signing with Rapids 2, Dowd received his final two Short Term Agreements of the 2026 MLS season for the first team.
“Bryan has impressed us since arriving at the club,” said Colorado Rapids Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach Chris Sharpe. “He works hard every day and has a great mentality. We’re excited to see him continue his development with the First Team.”
Selected sixth by Chicago Fire FC in the 2024 MLS Super Draft, the Oak Park, Illinois native gained professional experience across MLS NEXT Pro and the USL Championship. At the MLS NEXT Pro level, Dowd has spent time with Huntsville City FC and Chicago Fire FC II, registering 18 appearances over 1,620 minutes while posting 74 saves. Over the course of his career in MLS NEXT Pro, Dowd has made 22 starts with 84 saves with four different clubs. Dowd was loaned to FC Tulsa in 2025, where he recorded three appearances and one clean sheet.
During his collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, Dowd totaled 63 appearances with 24 clean sheets. In his final season at Notre Dame, he started all 21 matches and secured 12 wins. Dowd’s senior year performance earned him United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America honors in addition to being named TopDrawerSoccer’s National Player of the Year. The goalkeeper also rounded out his season as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
