COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids will begin their 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League run against Guatemalan side Comunicaciones FC in the Round of 16, Concacaf announced today. The Rapids will travel to Guatemala for the first leg of their Round of 16 matchup before hosting the Comunicaciones for the second leg; exact match dates and kickoff times will be announced by Concacaf at a later date.

Colorado is one of four MLS clubs competing in the 2022 edition of the continental tournament and qualified thanks to their first-place finish in the Western Conference in 2021, a season that saw the Rapids set a club record with 61 points.

The 2022 SCCL matchups will commence with the Round of 16 between February 15-17 (first legs) and February 22-24 (second legs). The Round of 16 will be followed by home and away Quarterfinal matches in March and Semifinals in April. The two-legged final is scheduled for the last week of April (first leg) and the first week of May (second leg).

The Concacaf Champions League pits the top clubs from around Concacaf, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, against each other in a two-legged knockout tournament. The winner of the competition advances to the FIFA Club World Cup against the champions of the other five FIFA confederations.
