Trusty's First Start
Auston Trusty will feature in tonight's starting lineup for the first time since joining the Rapids in November 2019. He will play along side Lalas Abubakar in the center of defense. Trusty, 21, spent the previous four seasons with the Philadelphia Union, which he originally joined as the club’s fifth-ever Homegrown Player in 2016. The Media, Pennsylvania, native was the Union’s first youth academy graduate to sign a professional contract with the first team. Last season, Trusty made 22 appearances for the Union, all starts, helping the club to a third-place finish in the Eastern Conference. Overall, Trusty recorded 56 appearances, two goals and an assist during his time in Pennsylvania.
Familiar Foe
The match will see Rapids club legend Pablo Mastroeni is currently an assistant coach for the Dynamo. The former US men's national team player was inducted into the Rapids Gallery of Honor on July 25, 2014 at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park. Mastroeni was named to the MLS All-Star team nine time during his playing career and earned Rapids MVP honors in 2007, 2008, 2010. He currently holds club records for most regular season games played (225), games started (217) and minutes played (18,669), and served as the Rapids captain from late 2004 until mid-2013. Mastroeni was a Colorado player from 2002-13 before being named head coach of the club in 2014. Mastroeni went on to manage the team for three years. In 2016, he lead the Rapids to their best regular season record of all time with 58 points. That same year the Rapids reach the Western Conference final.
