HealthONE Player of the Month | June

2017.06.27 POTM

Nominees for the Colorado Rapids HealthONE Player of the Month are here! Be sure to vote for the player you think is most deserving of the honors following MLS and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches during the month of June. The winner will be announced on Friday, June 30.

Veteran striker Alan Gordon has been a difference-maker for the Rapids over the past month. In just over an hour of MLS action, Gordon delivered two match-winning goals. On June 3 the target forward opened his 2017 account with a late header against Columbus Crew SC, giving the Rapids their first come-from-behind victory of the season. In similar fashion, Gordon’s 89th-minute header proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers. Finally, a flicked-on header in the 66th minute found Eric Miller for a tap-in goal  against Oklahoma City in the Open Cup match on June 13.

Midfielder Mohammed Saeid has introduced a quiet, smooth confidence in midfield for the Rapids in recent matches. The Swedish maestro earned HealthONE Man of the Match honors in the win over Portland thanks to his assist on Gordon's winner. Saeid also delivered the helper on Kevin Doyle's equalizer in the 80th minute against Columbus, a match the Rapids ultimately went on to win. In all, Saeid appeared in three matches, completing 85 percent of his passes this month.

The third nominee for the June POTM is rookie center back Kortne Ford. While the back line shifted due to injuries, suspensions and form, Ford continued to deliver consistent performances, including a dominant effort against the potent Portland attack in a June 17 win. The Rapids Development Academy product finished the month with 12 clearances and eight interceptions in 358 minutes of play.
