The Colorado Rapids (11-12-2, 35 pts., 7th West) remain home as they return to MLS play for a home matchup against Seattle Sounders FC (7-9-7, 28 pts., 15th West) on Saturday, September 19. Kickoff at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park is set for 7:30 p.m. MT with coverage available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, the Colorado Rapids app, and ColoradoRapids.com.
The Rapids enter Wednesday's match looking to continue their historic run of form at home during the MLS regular season. After recording a clean sheet last weekend, the club extended their shutout streak at home to six, setting a new club record in MLS play. Colorado now holds a 12-3-0 record at DSGP across all competitions this season with nine clean sheets over that span. The club’s nine home wins in MLS play this season marks a tie for the most in the Western Conference and is tied for the second most in all of MLS.
To extend their streak, the Rapids took down CF Montréal in their most recent MLS match. Colorado won the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Paxten Aaronson and a strong defensive performance from the back line and goalkeeper Nico Hansen. The match also marked the debuts for two of the club’s most recent signings, Designated Player Morgan Whittaker and U-22 Initiative striker Sayed Abu Farkhi.
Following last Saturday’s match, the Rapids fell to St. Louis CITY SC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals this past Wednesday.
On the other end of this weekend’s contest is a Seattle side that will look to earn their first MLS victory since May 13. Since then, the club has posted an 0-8-4 record during league play with an 0-4-2 record at home. Their most recent result came on the road last weekend, earning a point in a 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy.
Saturday night will also mark the club’s Noche Latina match to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The match will feature a special appearance from Clemente y Su Elexion Privada to Release The Rush, specialty food trucks outside The Dale's Bar, all capped by a postgame fireworks show set to a Latin music soundtrack. Additionally, the first 5,000 fans will receive a special edition Noche Latina fringe rally towel at the door and select premium suites.
