Rapids Academy’s Alex Hernandez and Nathan Tchoumba called in to U-15 U.S. Boys' National Team for 2025 Concacaf Under-15 Championship

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids Academy’s Alex Hernandez and Nathan Tchoumba have been called into the U.S. U-15 Boys’ National Team for the 2025 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship, the federation announced. Hernandez and Tchoumba will join the national team first in West Palm Beach, Florida, for training camp from July 26-31 before traveling to Alajuela, Costa Rica, for the tournament. Head Coach Ross Brady will lead the team through the tournament from August 2-10.

The United States will kick off the tournament in Group B alongside Canada, Costa Rica and Saudi Arabia. The team’s first group stage match will take place on Monday, August 4, against Saudi Arabia at 8 a.m. MT. The U.S. will then face off against Costa Rica on Wednesday, August 6, at 10 a.m. MT and Canada on Thursday, August 7, at 8 a.m. MT.

“We are thrilled for Alex and Nathan as they continue to take steps with the U.S. National Team and build on their development,” said Colorado Rapids Academy Director Andrew Kewley. “Competing with the U.S. in the Concacaf Championship will be a true test for these young players and we are proud to have the Rapids Academy represented in such a prestigious tournament.”

Hernandez joined the Colorado Rapids Futures Program in 2022 from local youth side ALBION SC Denver. During the current 2024-25 MLS NEXT season, the midfielder occupied a roster spot with the U-16 side. Hernandez contributed 10 goals and six assists in his 35 appearances during the regular season and helped the team to a 9-1-2 record and a second place standing in the Frontier Division of MLS NEXT Flex.

Tchoumba, 14, is a product of the Colorado Rapids Futures Program and is a long-standing member of the club. During the 2024-25 MLS NEXT season, Tchoumba split time between the U-15s and U-16s. With the U-15s, he recorded 14 appearances and with the U-16s he added one goal in 24 appearances across the season.

During this year’s MLS NEXT Cup, Hernandez and Tchoumba both made three appearances with the Rapids Academy U-15 team before exiting the playoffs.

Hernandez and Tchoumba have had experiences with the U.S. Youth National Team at both the U-14 and U-15 levels. Most recently, Hernandez joined the U.S. U-15s for his third training camp under Head Coach Brady. Hernandez made his national team debut with the U-15s on Feb. 28, 2025, against Mexico logging 24 minutes of play. The following match on March 2, 2025, against Mexico saw Hernandez record his first goal and first assist for the national team.

Tchoumba has received three training camp call ups with the U.S. U-15s and made his national team debut in the team’s set of friendlies against Mexico on Feb. 28, 2025, playing 76 minutes.
