Rapids ace Brown plays 45 minutes in Jamaica's cup opener

Deshorn Brown Caribbean Cup

Deshorn Brown played the first half of Jamaica's opening match of the 2014 Caribbean Cup, which ended in a 1-1 tie with Martinique in Montego Bay on Wednesday night.

The stronger side throughout, Jamaica took the lead through Vancouver Whitecaps striker Darren Mattocks after 13 minutes, only for Yoann Arquin to level for Martinique in the 29th.

Brown, the Colorado Rapids' leading scorer in 2014, had a good chance to restore the advantage for the host nation before the break, but his effort from 16 yards out was sent high over the crossbar. The 23-year-old was replaced at half-time by Jamar Loza.

Elsewhere in Group B on Wednesday, Haiti tied Antigua & Barbuda 2-2. Next up for the Reggae Boyz is a match against Antigua & Barbuda on Friday night.
