The Colorado Rapids closed out their slate of preseason scrimmages with three, 45-minute sessions on Saturday morning against last year’s MLS Cup Runner-Ups, the Philadelphia Union. Kevin Cabral scored his third goal of the preseason as the Rapids fell by a combined score of 4-1.

After a scoreless, first 45 minutes, Philadelphia opened the scoring when Mikael Uhre found Daniel Gazdag open at the far post in the 49th minute. The Rapids created several opportunities, including chances from Sam Nicholson and Braian Galvan, that forced saves from Joe Bendik, but the second period would end 1-0 in favor of the Union.

Nathan Harriel doubled Philadelphia’s lead in the 102nd minute following several changes to both teams’ lineups. The Eastern Conference side extended their advantage to three goals when Joaquin Torres converted a penalty kick in the 106th minute.

The Rapids responded less than two minutes later as Cabral got on the end of a Bryan Acosta cross into  the box to make it 3-1.

Philadelphia would edge out an additional tally with ten minutes left in the third period through Chris Donovan.

The Burgundy Boys will remain in Orlando to complete their preseason preparations before traveling to Washington ahead of their MLS season opener on Sunday, February 26, against Seattle Sounders FC (6 p.m. MT | FS1, Apple TV – Free).
