Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that homegrown defender Kortne Ford has been diagnosed with a sprain of his left medial collateral ligament (MCL). He is expected to be out of the lineup for 8-10 weeks. The injury occurred during a scrimmage at the team’s training facility on Saturday.

Following a successful career at Denver University in which the 6'2" defender helped the Pioneers reach the program’s first-ever College Cup, Ford saw action in 20 games last season for the Rapids, with 19 coming from the start. He was also named the club’s Young Player of the Year.

The Rapids are set to open their 2018 Major League Soccer campaign on March 10 against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is at 11:30 AM MT and the match will be broadcast live on Altitude 2.
