COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (July 6, 2020) — The Colorado Rapids departed today for Orlando, Florida, after all members of their traveling contingent tested negative for COVID-19 following an additional round of testing conducted yesterday.

The two individuals who received ‘false positive’ results on Sunday morning from a test performed on Friday, July 3, were immediately retested on Sunday afternoon and returned a negative result on Monday morning. They will remain in Colorado while awaiting a second consecutive negative test result before joining the group in Orlando.

“We’re excited to get back on the field and play meaningful games again,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids Executive VP & General Manager. “This is a deep, talented and hungry group who want to compete for trophies. We had a fantastic start to the season and we want to keep that momentum going and put ourselves in a position to bring home some silverware.”
