The Colorado Rapids (4-7-1 13 pts., 10th West) fell at home to St. Louis CITY SC (2-6-3, 9 pts., 14th West) 0-1 on Saturday night at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park.

The match started off slow, with both sides aiming to find their attacking form first. After back-and-forth play from each back line, it was Colorado who started creating the better opportunities early on. Shots from Darren Yapi and Georgi Minoungou made things close, but the club was unable to convert.

Breaking the ice for this match was the visitors, when Sang-Bin Jeong found the back of the net in the 26th minute off a counterattack.

From there, the Rapids continued their attacking form as they tried to find an equalizer.

Unable to score for the remainder of the period, the two sides went into halftime with the same 0-1 scoreline.

Colorado came out of the break with the same sense of attacking energy and created quality chances.

The match would change pace in the 51st minute, when Rapids defender Rob Holding received a straight red card.

From there, the Rapids continued their aggressive attacking play despite being down a man. Shortly after receiving the card, Colorado made a few rounds of substitutions in the search for an additional spark.

St. Louis would receive a red card of their own in the 87th minute, but it would be the visitors that managed to take home all three points in this contest.

Colorado will shift focus to their next match against Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, May 13. Kickoff at Allianz Field is set for 6:30 p.m. MT with coverage available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, the Colorado Rapids app, and ColoradoRapids.com.
