The Colorado Rapids (7-8-5, 26 points, 8th in the West) earned a point on the road in a 3-3 draw against the New England Revolution (6-6-6, 24 points, 11th in the East) at Gillette Stadium. Goalkeeper Nico Hansen recorded a single-season career high with nine saves, while Homegrown forward Darren Yapi recorded two assists for the first time in his MLS career.
Both sides dealt with early injuries. Sam Vines went down in the opening minutes but recovered quickly and was able to continue. On the other end, New England defender Brayan Ceballos went down in the Rapids box and remained on the ground for some time, though he also returned to action.
Goalkeeper Nico Hansen recorded a pair of early saves to keep the match level.
In the 25th minute, Rapids forward Rafael Navarro had a strong scoring opportunity, but New England goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič came up with a key stop to force a corner kick.
Calvin Harris opened the scoring in the 29th minute, converting a rebound for his third goal of the season and the ninth of his MLS career. The play began with Navarro using a clever spin move to shake off a New England defender. Ted Ku-DiPietro followed with a shot on target that was saved by Ivačič, but Harris was in the right place to bury the loose ball. The goal also marked his second in as many starts this week.
Just moments later, Navarro doubled the Rapids’ lead. After receiving a pass from Homegrown forward Yapi, Navarro drew three defenders in the box, cut back, and slotted a composed finish into the bottom corner. It was his sixth goal of the season and his seventh goal contribution of 2025. The assist was Yapi’s first of the year.
New England had a chance to pull one back in the 44th minute, but Leonardo Campana fired his shot wide of the target, keeping Colorado’s two-goal advantage intact. In the eighth minute of stoppage time, Hansen made a crucial point-blank save off New England’s eighth corner kick of the half to preserve the lead.
The Rapids held firm through stoppage time to maintain a two-goal lead into halftime. It marked the second consecutive match in which Colorado entered the half with a two-goal advantage.
Hansen came up big again in the 54th minute, making a sharp save on a dangerous ball played in by Brandon Bye to keep New England off the scoresheet.
Moments later, Ted Ku-DiPietro added a third for Colorado, scoring his first goal as a member of the Rapids with a confident near-post finish. Homegrown Yapi was credited with the assist, his second of the night. It also marked Ku-DiPietro’s second goal contribution in as many matches.
New England pulled one back in the 58th minute after an own goal by Sam Vines. The defender attempted to clear the ball with his weaker foot, but it redirected into the net, narrowing the Rapids’ lead to 3-1.
Hansen followed with another standout moment in the 60th minute, making a full-stretch save to deny New England and preserve the two-goal cushion.
In the 74th minute, the Rapids made a pair of substitutions as defender Keegan Rosenberry and midfielder Connor Ronan entered the match, replacing Sam Vines and Yapi.
Tensions flared in the 77th minute after Maximiliano Urruti pushed Rapids defender Chidozie Awaziem to the ground, sparking a scuffle between both sides. Players from each team rushed in, and after the dust settled, yellow cards were issued to Rapids captain Andreas Maxsø and New England captain Carles Gil.
In the 81st minute, New England made a pair of substitutions as former Rapid Luis Díaz and defender Tanner Beason entered the match, replacing Peyton Miller and Wyatt Omsberg.
The Revolution were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute after Sam Bassett made contact with Carles Gil in the box. Gil stepped up and converted from the spot in the 86th minute, cutting the Rapids’ lead to 3-2.
In the 90th minute, defender Ian Murphy entered the match for Harris as the Rapids looked to close out the result. Eight minutes of stoppage time were added, bringing the total to 16 minutes of added time across both halves.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Urruti scored to level the match at 3-3, capping off a late push from the home side.
