Three Colorado Rapids players feature for USA Under-23s in Brazil

Serna, O'Neill, Hairston

The 3-0 defeat to Brazil may not have been the result that the USA's Under-23s wanted on Monday, but the Colorado Rapids can be immensely proud of the fact that three of the club's players saw action in Brasilia.

Homegrown Players Shane O'Neill and Dillon Serna played the full 90 minutes, while rookie midfielder Marlon Hairston came on for the final seven minutes of the friendly international.

The Rapids trio missed Saturday's 2-1 loss at Chivas USA, having traveled with the national side to Brazil as part of a training camp, which included this match inside Estádio Nacional, one of the soccer venues for the Rio Olympics two years from now.

The Camp Brasilia forms part of the USA’s preparations for the start of their 2016 Summer Olympics qualifying campaign.

O'Neill, Serna and Hairston will return to Colorado later this week, in time for Saturday's final home match of the 2014 season, versus FC Dallas (TICKETS), though O'Neill will be forced to sit out the game due to a MLS suspension, which was deferred from last weekend after he answered a late call to join up with the national squad.
