William Yarbrough Selected to MLS Team of the Week After Shutting Out Charlotte FC

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough was selected to the MLS Team of the Week – Week 8 for his performance over the weekend in the Burgundy Boys’ scoreless draw against Charlotte FC.

Yarbrough recorded five saves en route to his 20th career shutout with the Rapids, which ranks fifth all-time in club history and only three behind Tim Howard’s career mark with the team.

The two-time LigaMX champion made five saves against Charlotte FC on Saturday, including a pair of consecutive saves in the 49th minute, parrying away Jordy Alcivar’s effort from the edge of the 18-yard box before denying Charlotte Designated Player Karol Swiderski ‘s volley on the rebound. With the match entering stoppage time, Yarbrough came up big once again, holding his ground to stop a breakaway effort Orrin McKinze Gaines II and secure a draw that set a new club record for most unbeaten games at home in the regular season.

The Rapids will look to extend their unbeaten run at home, which currently ranks seventh all-time in league history, as they host Portland Timbers FC this Saturday night.
