World Cup Qualifier between USA and Costa Rica in Colorado makes Mashable's Top 50 sports list

Snow Game Mashable

Mashable, one of the top technology and social media news blogs on the web, today unveiled their top 50 stunning sports images from 2013. Among the many incredible moments captured, we noticed one that that looked familiar.

The folks at Mashable ranked the photo above from the March 22 "Snow Clasico" between the United States and Costa Rica at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as their #13 favorite image of the year. There was considerable controversy over whether the conditions were too harsh to play in, but the United States' 1-0 victory was ultimately upheld by FIFA. The game and its coverage afterwards put Dick's Sporting Goods Park permanently on the American soccer map.

The image they chose is of defender Geoff Cameron fending off a Costa Rica player in inches of snow and counting. For those close to the Rapids, Cameron is most recognized for helping the grounds crew shovel snow off of the field lines to keep the field in a "playable" condition. It was a memorable night for the fans and staff at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, and we're happy that Mashable agrees with us. Click here to see their other top photos.
